You can find the label "healthy mattress" almost everywhere today. If you're looking for a "HEALTHY" mattress, be cautious of the practices of some sellers. It's important to know that "HEALTHY" mattresses do not exist; they are merely a misleading marketing tactic. Only the term MEDICAL DEVICE is permitted by the Ministry of Health, and it can only be used by those who have CLINICAL EVALUATION. If someone uses these terms, ask to see the necessary certificates, evaluation results, tests... . Mattresses do not heal; they are merely preventive.
Perforation
PURTEX implemented a new technology in 2015 to improve its production and enhance PURTEX products, enabling us to perforate mattresses. Thanks to this technology, mattresses achieve much better breathability, and the cores effectively wick away moisture.
Currently, we are the only company using this technology for mattress production in the Czech and Slovak Republics.
Perforation provides high breathability of mattress cores and excellent bed comfort.
No other technology can guarantee such high breathability.
Hybrid Foam
The world novelty Hybrid is different from other foams. It is neither cold, visco, nor standard and meets all the requirements for modern mattress foams.
Durability:
It is long-term stable. Neither sweating nor long-term use will alter its properties. There is zero loss in foam height.
Indestructibility:
It is stable in all directions, both during processing and when used against tearing. Thus, it is practically indestructible.
Comfort:
The unmistakable porous structure provides softness on the surface while supporting elasticity within.
Breathability:
Hybrid foam ensures the right climate for healthy sleep. Open pores prevent the accumulation of heat and moisture.
No other foam without additional perforation guarantees breathability!
PUR Foam
The production process of PUR foams has undergone innovations that ensure the material's health safety (PUR foams are currently of better quality than conventional foam due to technological improvements). The advantages of polyurethane foam include lower weight, making it easier to handle the mattress, elasticity, shape retention, and affordability.
It is not suitable for humid environments because it has lower breathability compared to other materials. Mattresses can be made from a single layer of PUR foam or from multiple layers of different types of foams and materials (so-called layered mattresses). Mattresses made from PUR foams are suitable for all types of bases. If a PUR foam mattress is placed on a solid surface, the risk of mold infestation increases, and the mattress's lifespan is reduced.
RE PUR
The designation RE PUR means that it is bonded RE PUR foam, pressed under high pressure. RE PUR ensures increased stiffness of the mattress core.
Mattresses made from RE PUR foams are suitable for all types of bases. If a RE PUR foam mattress is placed on a solid surface, the risk of mold infestation increases, and the mattress's lifespan is reduced.
Cold Foam
Cold foam, also known as HR foam, is produced using modern technology. It excels in shape retention and high elasticity. After foaming, it is pressed, opening pores that allow breathability.
Cold foam mattresses are suitable for slatted and rigid bases, both fixed and adjustable. If a cold foam mattress is placed on a solid surface, it is advisable to choose the highest possible mattress core (preferably more than 14 cm).
CoolFlex®
A type of cold foam that we use in our clinically evaluated mattresses.
The greatest advantages of CoolFlex® foams include:
- high elasticity
- excellent dynamic properties - flexibility and high resistance to compression
- high shape retention during long-term use
- excellent breathability (bed hygiene) - effectively wicks away body moisture
- anti-decubitus properties
- higher fire resistance - meets strict European safety standards.
Mattresses made with CoolFlex® cold foam are produced in a wide range of firmness levels.
Mattresses made from these foams provide optimal support for the human body while lying down and thus meet even the most demanding individual requirements of customers.
CoolFlex® FLEXI
A softer type of cold foam that we use in our clinically evaluated mattresses.
The greatest advantages of CoolFlex® FLEXI foams include:
- high elasticity
- high shape retention during long-term use
- excellent breathability (bed hygiene) - effectively wicks away body moisture
- anti-decubitus properties
- higher fire resistance - meets strict European safety standards.
Mattresses with this foam provide optimal support for the human body while lying down and thus meet even the most demanding individual requirements of customers.
ViscoFoam® - memory foam / Lazy foam /
Alternative names for lazy foam include viscoelastic, lazy-foam, memory foam, or thermo-reactive foam. Lazy foam has a cellular structure that changes its hardness depending on the temperature (the foam adapts upon contact with human body heat, resulting in an even weight distribution). The slow return to its original form creates no counterpressure and thus prevents pressure sores (decubitus). Interestingly, this material was invented by NASA and was released for commercial use only in 2000.
Mattresses made from this material are suitable for side sleepers and in cases of spinal injury, increased risk of pressure sores, or hematomas; however, they are not suitable for children (due to proper growth). Lazy foam is used for the top layers of mattresses (the base layer is usually cold foam), acting as a preventive measure against pressure sores, especially if used across the entire mattress surface. Sometimes, however, it is only used on the most heavily loaded parts of the mattress.
Coconut Board
Coconut fibers are bonded with latex, allowing for increased firmness while maintaining flexibility. Some manufacturers insert the coconut board between lower quality foams to compensate for the weaker characteristics of the foams used and extend the mattress's lifespan. Always check the parameters of the mattress foam used.
Springs and Pocket Springs
Spring and pocket mattresses are made up of springs. These mattresses have very good breathability (which leads to high resistance to mold, mites, and bacteria) and can be placed on non-breathable solid boards. Spring and pocket mattresses have a long lifespan. Generally, they cannot be used on adjustable bases (as they may deform, with some exceptions for certain pocket mattresses).
In a pocket mattress, individual springs are sewn into textile bags (pockets), which dampens noise. The core of a pocket mattress contains more springs than a classic spring mattress, which are not interconnected (allowing them to respond individually to loads) and are suitable for daily use. Quality pocket mattresses have around 1,000 springs. Always ask about the number of springs and be cautious of seemingly "advantageous offers" where the low price corresponds to a lower number of springs.
Compressed Mattress
A commonly used name is also a compressed mattress. However, this name does not indicate the quality of the mattress; it only describes the packaging method. If the mattress is delivered in such packaging, it must be unwrapped within 3 days from the compression date (which coincides with the production date). The unwrapped mattress must then be left to settle on a flat surface for 48 hours and must not be subjected to weight during this time.
PES - Polyester
Natural polyester has been known since around 1830, and the first synthetic polyester was used in World War I as an impregnation material. Polyester fibers can be found in practically all textile products. The most important positive properties include: high resistance to light, resistance to weather conditions and microorganisms, and low absorbency (quick drying).
Latex
Latex is often called "white gold." It is a liquid that is naturally found in rubber trees and neutralizes up to 90 million tons of CO2 annually.
PURTEX latex contains no harmful substances and is certified according to the strictest Oekotex class 1 standards.
Latex products carry the FSC label. All used natural latex comes from sustainably managed plantations, with consideration for the environment and workers.
FSC also means transparency: the origin of each mattress core can be traced back to the tree.
